At-Home Self Care!

Hi Friends!

I've decided to compile some videos and tools for you to use for at-home stretching and muscle care.  I have tried out all of these personally, so I know they worked well for me (and hopefully will work for you, too!).  I encourage you to view the videos before trying them for yourself to be sure that you are comfortable with what the instructors are suggesting.  I will continue to search for more videos (and might even make some of my own) to share.  Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like me to add anything specific to this list! NECK AND SHOULDERS

This first video I'm sharing is from Jared Beckstrand, a doctor of physical therapy, who uses his YouTube channel is show people how to address common injuries and pain.  What I like about this video is the large variety of stretches and movements he offers to help the viewer alleviate neck and shoulder knots/discomforts.  It's about 15 minutes long, but once you have the information, you can easily do any combination of them at your own pace.  He also uses a few different props: a heat pack, a tennis ball, a foam roller, and a TheraCane.  If you're interested in snagging some of these props, I have direct links to where they can be purchased on Amazon below the video, as well as HERE in my At-Home Self Care Shop!

 

 

This next video is from Doctor Jo, another doctor of physical therapy, who has a causal apporach to giving the viewer easy stretches and exercises to do to relieve everyday pain.  What is great about this video, and a few others on her YouTube channel, is their brevity.  This video is a quick, 5-minute routine of shoulder stretches that can be done any time of day, especially during breaks at the office.

 

FULL BODY STRETCHES

If you're in need of a quick, full-body stretch session, this next video is great.  I've become a big fan of the Yoga With Kassandra YouTube channel.  Kassandra's yoga is focused very much on a yin approach.  Her videos range from 10-minute stretches, like the one below, to full one-hour guided yoga sequences and more.  This particular video is specifically great when all you have is a small window of time in the morning, but can be done any time of day when you need a quick pick-me-up (no yoga props needed).
